The collection contains a large number of newspaper clippings, photographs, correspondence and speeches composed by Louis-Philippe Gagné (1922-1964), former editor of the newspaper, Le Messager, and mayor of Lewiston, Maine. The papers cover Gagné's editorial and political careers, his naturalization process, and his role as patron of various civic groups. Gagné (1922-1964) moved to Lewiston from Québec City in 1922, and then became editor of Le Messager, having worked for Le Soleil in Québec since 1917.
